The role:

As an Engineering Technician, you will work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers, reliability engineers, systems integration specialists and scientific experimentalists to ensure Brava’s current and future products are of the highest performance, quality and reliability for our customers – all using cutting-edge experiments, stress-test techniques and data analysis. As an Engineering Technician – Testing and Evaluation, you will be responsible for providing imaginative, practical, and comprehensive support for Brava research, development and product reliability tests, and you will manage ongoing testing. Your responsibilities will include construction and setup of test equipment, design and assembly of test fixtures, performance of tests, data collection, analysis reporting and documentation of results.  You will also take part in providing imaginative, practical, and comprehensive support for Brava product repair, maintenance, diagnostics and prototyping.

 

Things you’ll own/do:

  • Configure and run complex test setups using high accuracy test equipment for temperature, humidity, ingress, mechanical shock and cyclical tests in a lab setting

  • Execute detailed test procedures, waterfall tests, and pre- and post-test measurements

  • Inspect environmental tests in outside lab locations

  • Assemble install, calibrate, operate, and support/maintain test instrumentation, test fixtures, and lab equipment

  • Maintain accurate records of test conditions, setup, pre-test, results, data analysis, repairs and improvements with integrity and attention to detail

  • Report and document observed trends and issues to program managers and engineers

  • Create test procedure documents

  • Organize, label, and store test samples and components

  • Assemble electronic and mechanical prototypes and devices using mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams and associated work instructions

  • Diagnose and report electrical and mechanical faults and causes of faults at component level using root cause analysis techniques

  • Manage, prioritize, execute and communicate status of individual queue of work requests from engineering and product groups

  • Operate and maintain a safe working environment for all employees at all times

 

Our ideal candidate has:

  • 3+ years of experience in testing or operating and troubleshooting electronic equipment in a lab environment (5+ years of experience is a plus!)

  • Experience using hand tools and electronic measurement equipment including digital multimeters & oscilloscopes

  • Ability to consistently perform freehand hot air BGA & fine pitch rework soldering

  • Experience with sensors such as thermocouples, strain gauges and accelerometers

  • Ability to safely isolate failures in subsystems with troubleshooting and root cause analysis

  • Knowledge of basic physics and engineering principles

  • Strong testing, troubleshooting, and data collection skills

  • Strong drive and passion to provide accurate data with attention to detail while maintaining organization

  • Experience with photography

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office for documentation creation, and modification
