The role:

As part of the Brava reliability team, you will be responsible for ensuring and improving the durability and reliability of Brava’s current and future products. To achieve these goals, you will partner with multiple engineering teams, engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff, and work with outside partners from the beginning (concept) to the end (field returns) phases of the product lifecycle, all while exploring new technologies and understanding how customers will use our products.

You will develop and implement creative reliability tests on innovative electrical and mechanical hardware, quantify reliability risk, support failure analysis in testing and field returns, and advise the leadership team on the best path forward to achieve optimally durable and reliable products.

 

Things you’ll own/do:

  • Partner with senior reliability engineers to develop reliability requirements for consumer-facing hardware

  • Perform stress characterization of appropriate usage conditions

  • Assist with and document FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis)

  • Assist with developing acceleration models and accelerated tests

  • Assist with developing new reliability test specifications and procedures

  • Assist in performing accurate and in-depth statistical analysis

  • Administer and develop appropriate test plans

  • Prepare detailed and concise reliability reports

  • Communicate reliability results, risks and recommendations

  • Contribute to failure analysis and use correct methodology to identify root cause of failures

  • Conduct in-depth research into applicable failure mechanisms

  • Define test methodology and test coverage to assure product reliability

  • Provide hands-on experimental design and execution

  • Apply design of experiments (DOE)

  • Oversee reliability testing and analysis through product lifecycle

  • Collaborate with design teams to implement design for reliability into product cycle

 

Our ideal candidate has:

  • BS in mechanical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering or equivalent discipline

  • Minimum of 6-month internship (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering or equivalent field

  • Knowledge of mechanical design, material science, and failure mechanisms of consumer electronics

  • Interest in developing and performing reliability tests including (but not limited to) mechanical, shock, vibration, environmental, and characterization testing

  • Knowledge of or interest in industry test standards such as ASTM, MIL, JEDEC, and IEEE

  • Ability to independently manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail

  • Strong organizational skills and keen awareness of details

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Desire or willingness to travel internationally

  • Team player approach and attitude
