The Role:

As the Head of Operations, Retail you will be responsible for launching and growing Brava’s physical discovery and sales strategy. Our product is groundbreaking, but its success is uniquely dependant on in-person demos and experiences. We’re building our strategy on popups, permanent stores and partner demos, but would want you to explore additional multisensory ways to connect with potential customers.

Your responsibilities will include scouting, negotiating, designing and launching the first retail location, directing all retail operations and staff, providing leadership and managing the profitability of each store. You will be tasked with achieving maximum operational effectiveness and efficiency and delivering a seamless and satisfying customer experience while maintaining our brand vision and ethos. You will be in charge of all retail operations and will grow the business unit to multiple stores based on performance. You'll be responsible for the following:

 

New store development - own the journey from conception to ongoing operations

  • Launch our first retail location

  • Lead the site scouting and selection process, which includes developing store appraisals and capital budgets

  • Participate in the design, construction and operations process to ensure each shop is delivered on time, within budget and is fully operational from the start

  • Hire and manage each onsite team

  • Establish best in class processes to ensure delight on every interaction

  • Develop and execute a strategy to hire and retain the best talent

 

On-going store operations - develop a model of operational excellence across our Direct Retail portfolio

  • Spend time on the ground with retail store teams and customers to understand and identify business-critical issues in order to ensure the alignment of tactics and strategies

  • Translate the strategic goals into retail operational plans to achieve the required targeted growth in customer experience, sales and profit; identify and optimize promotional opportunities

  • Support store managers in making decisions about the day to day retail operation within their defined work area, including the strategic allocation of resources

  • Ensure that the retail operation complies to all policies and procedures relating to security, health and safety

 

People leadership - lead and develop a team of high performing team

  • Take a lead role in building a strong customer service and sales management culture with the operations team; spend time coaching store managers, identifying skills and opportunities for development; provide advice and guidance on staff issues when needed

  • Proactively manage and review the performance and progress of store managers and their staff, set objectives and targets; work with training manager to develop individual training plans for the team

 

Develop and own strategy to grow our direct retail portfolio

  • Own the in person experience of our product discovery

  • Generate ideas about future retail activities to ensure a cutting edge strategy

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of the marketplace, competitors and trends

  • Pick up new activities that fall broadly in the purpose of the role

  • Fix things that you can see need fixing; identify problems and find solutions
